james works one high school day, I forced my friends to listen to this oddball compilation on the drive home to delaware from philadelphia. maybe I love that memory more than anything, but we all loved the weirdo Paint It Black cover. my favorite, however, is the Pettinkisessio track, though choosing a single favorite is difficult. it's the perfect juxtaposition of play and performance that encapsulates much of this compilation tho. Favorite track: 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 10.

This compilation includes 'outsider'-type home recordings by a bunch of people over here in finland, when they were young and/or inspired. some of these people were actually a bit ashamed of these recordings but lal lal lal encouraged them to bring it all out to the public, and as a result we found many moments of brilliance. this tape is full of enthusiastic genius and true joy of expression.

"Easily the most bizarre of the records featured here, Buried Dead is a Lal lal lal compilation that plays like the audio diary of budding noisemakers, featuring twenty three short tracks by, among others, Maniacs Dream, Kemialliset Ystävät, Pylon, Kukkiva Poliisi and a score of other oddly named units. The twisted experiments with voice and microphones, strangely tuned string instruments, clattering percussion, brute noise, nonsensical lyrics and garbled electronica range from the sublime, Roope Eronen’s trance miniature “3 rukouskulhoa & 5 lelukukkoa,” to the ridiculous, The Garfields’ demolition of “Satisfaction” and “Light My Fire,” to the disturbing, Hot Patongs in Paris’ self-titled demonic house mutation.
